San Cristóbal Cocktail is one of these creations you may think is very strong to drink and probably not your first stop for a rum-based cocktail. However, I invite you to check this exciting recipe and try it for yourself. The cocktail contains only Rum as a spirit and is a beautiful sip in combination with the rest of the ingredients.
San Cristóbal Cocktail is a little gem you must try.
The original recipe for the cocktail is with Jamaican Rum, and the name of the cocktail is Ocho Rios. Ocho Rios is a port town on the north coast of Jamaica now resort with a cruise ship harbour and hotels. I presume the cocktail takes its name from the same place. Once again I did a little change and replaced the Jamaican Rum with a beautiful 12 years old Flor de Caña Rum.
In 1890, Flor de Caña distillery opened the doors at the base of the San Cristóbal volcano, the tallest and most active volcano in Nicaragua. Also, it is one of the first Fair Trade Spirit Company. Aged naturally with 100% reusable energy Flor de Caña 12 years old bring amazing aromas of red fruits, honey and toasted nuts. On the palate is wood, vanilla and baked apples, with a smooth and well-balanced finish.
I am a big fan of the of this Rum and still impressed by how well works with different ingredients and bring character to every different serve. It is extraordinary rum with a long history and unique spot of production.
If you are interested in finding out more about the distillery and the history of Flor de Caña Rum, I invite you to visit their website. Also, you can check some of my Rum Recipes by visiting the cocktail page.
