Pink Kipinski is my riff on an old classic called KIPINSKI. The original cocktail calls for White Rum, Triple Sec and Grapefruit Juice in equal parts of 30ml each. The original cocktail is fantastic, but why not explore some options and create something new. I often take on old recipes and create my riffs to explore more possibilities and unique flavours.
Pink Kipinski Rum Cocktail is a delightful riff.
I am doing my riff on this incredibly simple and delicious classic, replacing the white rum with Flor de Cana 12 Years Single Estate Rum. Flor de Caña 12 Year Single Estate Rum comes from Nicaragua and is Sugar-free, distilled using 100% renewable energy in the base of an active volcano. Not only exquisite rum but one of the first Global Spirits to be Fair Trade Certified. Fair Trade means, giving back to the community, improving labour conditions, helping with environmental sustainability, to name a few.
Instead of Triple Sec, I reach for Giffard Pamplemousse Rose Liqueur. The liqueur brings very aromatic taste, the right balance between bitterness, acidity and fruity, with a zesty note at the end. Apart from being recommended for pairing with White, Rose or Sparkling Wine, the Liqueur is terrific for mixing in cocktails.
Finally, replacing the white grapefruit with pink grapefruit juice. White grapefruit is impressive, but you can’t beat the smooth and pleasant bittersweet taste of freshly squeezed pink grapefruit. Also, I find out the pink grapefruit works fantastic with dark spirits and especially with Rum.
In the end, you have a fantastic result in a new fresh cocktail riff. Don’t forget to check my Cocktail Page for more recipes or check my blog to find out more about cocktails with Rum.
